The City of Las Cruces has several facilities that provide a social and support base for seniors. The Munson Center is the hub of the City of Las Cruces senior programs. The Center serves hot meals, offers regularly scheduled educational and recreational classes, provides a senior’s companion program, and serves as liaison between seniors and government agencies. The Mesilla Park Recreation Center offers seniors arts, crafts and exercise programs. The Henry Benavidez Community Center offers meals and senior programs. Las Cruces offers many parks that have walking trails to provide a pleasant few hours for seniors. The Sun Country Striders is an organization that promotes health through walking. Events are scheduled throughout the year at historical or scenic locations. The Mesilla Valley Mall opens its doors early to walkers and many seniors take advantage of the opportunity to walk and exercise, particularly in the winter months.
The Hospitality Club of Las Cruces is a non-profit social organization. The club provides both newcomers and long-time residents an opportunity to meet new people and socialize, whether at the monthly luncheons or at one of its various groups, such as the movie or card groups.
